Relax and Get Your Paws Wet

All Puppy wanted to do all weekend was go to the beach.

Saturday was beautiful. Sunday even nicer.

Alas, this end-of-year merry-go-round barely stops to let me take a breath. On Saturday, we had our local Girl Scout first-ever Pinewood Derby, work to do in the garden, band rehearsals for the upcoming concert, and important middle school dates at the movies. Sunday I went off-Cape for the day, up to Bentley University where my son has been participating in the HOBY Leadership Conference for the last few days. Each high school in the state chooses one sophomore to send to represent the school, and work on developing leadership skills. Sounded like a busy and empowering 3-days, and my son thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not to mention that summer rules are already in effect at our beach. It's not enough for me to find a spare hour to take her to the beach, the hour has to be during certain early or late time allotments.

Today she finally got there. The summer people went back off-Cape after their busy weekends. The kids went back to school after theirs. Puppy and I got to head to the ocean and get our paws wet.

Sometimes you just need to take time to put your toes in the water and breath deeply. The salt air and crashing waves block out the worries of the real world, if only for a few moments. It helped Puppy's mood, and mine too.

What do you do to relax, when the daily grind wears you down? Puppy and I recommend getting your paws wet. What's your favorite suggestion?

  1. I'd love to get my feet wet, but its still a little too cold yet - relaxing on the patio with a nice book and a cup of wine that's my unwinding for June

    1. Sounds great! This is always on my list as well - it's easier when the kids are not around, though ;-)My patio is a little too obvious, an they always find me!

  2. Beach walks are perfect for me! And yoga. That really helps too.

    1. I used to take a great pilates/yoga class 3 times a week that I loved... maybe this summer I'll find a new one. Good idea!

  3. i would certainly choose the beach walk--but since i am not able to do that yet---i find, taking a car ride with a cup of coffee and nowhere to go in particular, very relaxing :)

  4. I sure don't blame the Puppy...what a beautiful beach. I miss it! We used to live in CA for a time , and went to the beach regularly.

It's been a long time since I stopped by. I'm glad to be back. Have a great week. :)

  5. I wish I could wriggle my toes in the ocean. I remember the feeling but I live away from the sea now. To relax, I walk daily under huge horse-chestnut trees that grow along our road. I gaze up at the leaves and wonder at creation. The English countryside is wonderful--green at the moment from constant summer rain. I guess anything in nature helps one see their place in the world.

  6. That does sound soooo relaxing!

I like to read a book snuggled up in a blanket with it raining outside and the noise of the fan in the background. I don't ask for much do I? :)

    1. Good for you! I have trouble falling asleep, so napping isn't my ideal way to relax, but glad it works for you!
