True North, by Marie Force
Published 2010
About the Book (from Goodreads):
The first time Travis North lays eyes on Liana McDermott, she’s wearing the most hideous bridesmaid dress he’s ever seen. He doesn't immediately recognize the world-famous super model who is attending her cousin Enid's wedding at the country club he owns.
Thanks to Enid's shameless matchmaking, Travis and Liana become acquainted and later embark on a two-week fling intended to be free of emotion and entanglement. As Liana's return to work gets closer, however, Travis wonders how he'll ever let her go when the time comes while Liana considers whether he might be her true north.
Two high-powered careers, two amazing weeks and a love that comes along just once in a lifetime. Is she ready to give up her career for a different kind of life? Does he want the same things she does? After insisting on an emotionless affair, she can't very well ask him. Or can she?
MY TAKE:
Trevor North seems to be a guy who has it all. He doesn't realize he's missing anything until he meets Liana McDermott and feels the tug at his heart. She's a supermodel and a workaholic like him, but on vacation for her favorite cousin's wedding, held at his brand new resort facility. Sparks begin to fly when they meet, an immediate attraction that sends both of them reeling.
If this was just a straight forward tale of insta-love, I probably would've put it down. But the author tosses casual obstacles in their way and then adds a second pairing and plot line that holds a slightly darker edge to it, making it all the more compelling.
Ms. Force continues to show readers why she is a master in this genre of light romantic suspense.
Sizzling sex scenes, likeable characters, interesting situations... I thoroughly enjoyed this book as an easy, enjoyable beach read and would totally recommend it. Toss this in your beach bag for a great summer read.
