V is for...Vineyard

V is for... Vineyard

There are actually a few working Vineyards on Cape Cod, including Truro Vineyards, which you can see along Route 6 as you pass through Truro. Every fall, they have a festival as part of the town's annual Truro Treasures weekend. Live music, good food, wine tastings... and grape stomping. Really. I Love Lucy-style old fashioned grape stomping.

We went last fall, and my daughter couldn't wait to shuck her flipflops and squish her toes amongst the grapes...

A messy job, but someone has to do it. Let me ask, who would want to drink Vino that was made with someone else's feet?

  1. Ever since Lucy and Ethel squished grapes I have wanted to do it. Looks like your girls had a great time. Luve your V. I didn't think of vineyard.

  2. I want to do that!!!!

  3. It was a lot of fun to watch - and even though this particular part of the event was billed as something for the kids, there were plenty of adults who couldn't resist and joined the kiddos in the vat. I was content with drinking (foot-less) wine and taking photos ;-) But there's always next year!

  4. It does look like fun but I'm with you, I wouldn't want to drink it afterwards ;)

  5. OH fun! I live in the french suburbs and our local curé has a small vinyard. Other than that, I haven't been to visit the bigger vinyards. But I sure do like the 'vin';)

  6. My boys would have loved doing that! Just came to say hi and let you know I've picked up my Stylish Blogger Award and posted it thanking you today (combined with my 'V' for Versatile Blogger award)

  7. That's fantastic! I love the photos - I would so love to squish some grapes right about now!

  8. Looks like fun although I was thinking that I might not be the first to try that wine, LOL!

Stopping by from the A to Z challenge!

  9. Katie ~
Here you are writing such short, enjoyable and succinct posts with great pictures, while I'm taking way too much time with my A to Z going deep. Hhmmm...perhaps there is a lesson here :~)

P.S. How did you get the grape juice out of her clothes?

  10. Best not to think of the feet squishing the grapes when taking that first sip! ;-) Great post, Katie!

  11. Hi all, Yes, it was fun to watch (and lots of fun for the kiddos) but No, I don't think they intended to actually USE those pressings to make wine, lol. Our local Board of Health inspector would have a coronary!

@M Kathy - My daughter's clothing would have been stain free (no, really) except for one naughty little boy who couldn't resist kicking it at her. He slipped and fell (all by himself) soon after... I soaked her shorts and scrubbed with salt and laundry detergent and they came clean. The tshirt didn't.

The stains on her feet and legs lasted a few days, even with lots of swimming in the ocean and the pool.

Go ahead - leave a comment! You know you want to! But don't be Anonymous - that'll just get you deleted. And who wants that?
